Agenda Item: VIII.N.

Consider/Approve Recommendation from Textbook Adoption Committee

Background Information:

The Obion County Textbook Adoption Committees, being duly appointed by the Board at its October 2011 meeting and having met all requirements of the State, have completed their adoption process for grades K-12 textbooks and make the following recommendations as set forth on the attached documents:

Tennessee Bridge Math

This course is being offered for the first time during the 2012 – 2013 school year as a math requirement for graduation. The State did not have a textbook recommendation for this course; therefore, we solicited copies from three (3) textbook companies. The Textbook Adoption Committee for Math recommends Tennessee Bridge Math, authored by Lynch and Olmstead, published by McGraw-Hill. These textbooks are recommended for a six-year cycle beginning with the 2012 – 2013 school year. We must submit the Report of Local Adoption of Textbooks Not on Contract to the State upon approval.

Staff Recommendation:

Based on this Committee’s recommendation, I recommend adoption of the above-noted textbooks for a six-year cycle beginning with the 2012 – 2013 school year.
